About Dr. Mike

Michael Caruso III, VMD, DACVS-LA, has been practicing and caring for horses in this region for nearly nine years. In 2019 he founded Reedsdale Equine Specialists to better serve the equine athlete, owner, trainer, and veterinarian.

Specialist and Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Dr. Caruso is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. The “Diplomate” status is achieved after a successful internship, a 3-year residency, certification of completion of the program by the national governing body (American College of Veterinary Surgeons), and the resident then must sit for and pass a rigorous 2-day examination. Only then does the veterinarian earn the title of “Diplomate” and be considered a specialist.

Dr. Caruso has been an invited lecturer to international, national, and local continuing education meetings for veterinarians and veterinary specialists, as well as client-oriented educational meetings. He has authored, co-authored, and published manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and magazine articles.

Dr. Caruso is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His enthusiasm for horses started at the age of 8 – caring for, riding, and training his ponies and showing hunters and jumpers on a national level. He now resides in Manchester, Tennessee, with his wife Dr. Jennifer Gesell, a small animal veterinarian.
