“2019 was a big year for CC Plain Vanilla aka “Ice” (2010 gelding Wimpys Little Step X Sheza Bonita Whiz). My trainer and coach, Marco Formentin, rode him to the National Reining Horse Association Limited Open World Championship, NCAA Limited Open Reserve World Championship, NRHA Affiliate Regional Reserve Championship and a long list of other championships and awards. It takes a lot out of a horse to go into the show pen that many times and ride at the top level and, mid-year, we started to notice that Ice just was not himself in a few maneuvers. Dr. Mike had seen him in Tennessee just before his first show of the year and we were thrilled to find out that he was licensed in Kentucky, where Ice was in training, and would come to Marco’s facility to see him. He accurately diagnosed exactly what needed to be addressed and, even though Ice stayed 100% for the remainder of a long campaign to the World Championship, Dr. Mike frequently checked in with us, attended local shows to watch him in the show pen to evaluate him and, in all ways, was part of “Team Ice”.
